Repeat Prescription Turnaround Times – Important Information for Patients - Please click here for more details

Changes to the way you order and collect repeat prescriptions

From Friday 12th July 2019 you were no longer be able to order your repeat medication on the prescription telephone line. When prescriptions are requested over the phone, mistakes are more likely due to either confusion with drug name pronunciation, or errors made when interpreting the verbal request. Please ask our Reception staff for other ways to order your medication.

How do I order my Repeat Prescriptions?

The quickest, easiest and most secure way to order your repeat medication is by using Online Services.  The benefits of ordering online are shown below alongside the other ways in which you can order your medication.

·       Reduces capacity for error

·       Need to register in person for use

ask your Pharmacy to order on your behalf

What are the time-frames for ordering my Repeat Prescriptions?

Please order your repeat prescriptions at least four full working days (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays) before you wish to collect them.  Requesting prescriptions at short notice can cause extra work for staff and doctors and causes delays for other patients.

You need to allow extra time to process your prescription if the items you require are not on your repeat medication list as this often has to be approved by your GP.

Details of expected time-frames are shown below:

Nominated Pharmacy

Did you know you can also nominate a pharmacy of your choice for your prescription to be sent directly to by your GP? This means your prescription will go straight to the pharmacy you choose and you do not need to collect the paper prescription from Reception.  Please ask at reception for further information and to nominate your pharmacy.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to speak to a member of the clinical team at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
